you won’t see me in these parts again

an early night faded out after a failed pub crawl
the trains had been and gone, last drinks were already called
so we left the Hamilton Station, ready for the long haul
and started on the back roads home, away from the working girls

passed the limo hire with Al Pacino in the driver seat
slipped through the school, wary of the hot metal on the ground
and I couldn’t even decide if it was Kotter’s or Epstein’s
we heard a scream from the oval, so I jumped the fence to look around

it was dark and hard to see, it could be almost anything
and way off in the distance, I thought I could just make out
two huskies in the middle, two prime-age dogs were at it thrusting
as I got closer, the lights seemed to expose
a girl I knew, still hard at work
