all the bottles

well I failed as your lover boy
and I’ve failed as your silent poet
many times over, I’ve contemplated
contemplated the circumstances
and the repercussions of this life

I’ve taken all the bottles you left me
and I’ve taken all the paintings down
all the glasses, the only eyes left
several of them are gone,
and I’ve got a plan for the rest

yeah we could have been in barbados
or maybe down in new orleans,
but the floods already came
and I’m thinking it’s too late
but my thinking’s not that straight

it was one hazy sunday night
I found the canvas still bare
I drew a testament to the gods
the gods we once knew
and the gods we’ve now lost

yeah I’ve failed as a lover boy
I’ve failed as any sort of host
I’ve thought about it long and hard
I thought about all the riots
the riots I could be in

if only I gave a damn

Good to see you writing, Amos. Its a shame you don’t do it very often any more - you write so well.

Also can I just say that right now I am looking at a Google Ad on the side of this page that says “Cow Wall Art - whimsical cow pictures will delight. we have unique cow items”.

    LOL.
